About UpRight Science

Revolutionizing Health Through Balance

At UpRight Science, we are giving a new vision to how balance and movement define health by making it a new vital sign for early prediction of neurological decline, musculoskeletal conditions, and overall mobility health. Our technology helps prevent falls caused by aging, neurodegenerative diseases, and medication side effects, while also managing opioid use and other fall-risk-increasing drugs (FRIDs) to improve patient outcomes.

Using FDA-cleared technology, our platform transforms the way balance and gait are analyzed, delivering real-time, remote balance assessments through a smartphone. This enables early detection of health risks, making intervention seamless and accessible.

Our Mission

UpRight Science is dedicated to advancing healthcare through balance—a fundamental yet often overlooked biomarker. Our goal is to reduce fall risks, improve opioid titration management, and detect early signs of neurodegenerative diseases. By pioneering balance as a vital sign, we empower healthcare providers and insurers with AI-driven, data-backed insights that enhance patient outcomes and reduce medical costs.

What We Solve

Fall Prevention

Reducing fall-related injuries, a significant burden on the healthcare system.

Opioid Titration Management

Helping patients safely taper off opioids, improving recovery and reducing risks.

Early Neuro Detection

Identifying early signs of dementia, Parkinson's, and other neurological conditions.

Unlike traditional wearables, UpRight Science operates passively in the background—monitoring users as they walk with their phones, ensuring continuous compliance without additional devices.

Dr. Sanjeev Sharma MD, MBA

Chief Medical Officer

Sanjeev Sharma, MD, MBA, earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Ontario's McMaster University and completed his postgraduate medical training at University of Toronto. He then spent nearly two decades as a physician specializing in emergency medicine at North York General Hospital, Trillium Health Partners and the William Osler Health System. But he came to realize that business skills would be needed to make the kinds of changes he thought that the combination of technology and medicine would require. So he returned to school, earning an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.

With his brother, Sunil, he founded Wellpoint, an occupational health services company. After a successful exit, he then was a founder of Highmark, the company that developed the FDA-cleared Software As A Medical Device balance technology that UpRight is bringing to the market. His goal: to make the technology's ability to collect neurological data that makes balance information a key physiological marker that will guide medical treatments.
